Well, well, well. Seems that having a sassy 1980s Pontiac Firebird just isn’t enough for some people. The Knight Industries Two Thousand is the dream car for many 1980s survivors…once you get away from looking like The Hoff. It was black, it had turbo boost, rockets, an ATM, a flame thrower, medical scanner and much, much more. Even if you were able to pull out of the television show form and could return to reality, having a black Firebird with a joystick-style steering…um, wheel?…and that red strobe scan light up front got you tons of attention. KITT wasn’t just another car in a television series, the car alone was a star, like the General Lee. Except the General Lee didn’t talk back when you bitched it out.

Since the end of the show in 1986, various replications of the KITT Firebird have come into being. You can still hit the Internet and find parts to create your own if you are so inclined. But we wouldn’t suggest you do that. Apparently, there are enough replicas that a KITT Firebird can wind up in a junkyard somewhere.

I hope you’re happy. You made William Daniels cry. Caption this photo!

(Thanks to Scott Philbrick for the tip!)

Saw one here in Spain yesterday all kitted out like KITT.

In fact there are dozens here, can´t see the attraction quite honestly.

After having him destroyed and come back in several episodes, the Foundation finally figured out that the best way to eliminate KARR for good was to leave him in the junkyard and let the parts vultures pick him clean.
