How Many Times Have You Wanted A Project You Have No Business Having? The Struggle Is Real

How Many Times Have You Wanted A Project You Have No Business Having? The Struggle Is Real

When BANGshifter Scott Liggett posted a photo of the tow truck above on Facebook yesterday he said, “I have no idea what I’d use it for, but I want it anyways!”. Well duh! That happens to me all the time! Like a couple times a week. Seriously. I am the king of seeing something and immediately day dreaming it to completion. Thankfully I’m too broke to move on most of the stuff I see, so there is no danger of me ending up with a wrecking yard worth of crap sitting in the field waiting its turn to be built. But that doesn’t mean I don’t pull a Scott and dream about them. And in many cases, like the tow truck, I have zero need or reason to own them. Sure, some are just cool muscle cars or trucks or something, that would have mass appeal, but just as many, if not more, would have no appeal to most people. I think that if I publicly said I wanted something each time I saw something that intrigued me, a lot of you would wonder what was wrong with me.

But I can’t be alone in this. I know that there are different levels of sickness when it comes to hot rodding, racing, and building cars, but I think that all of us have the gene that makes us think something would be epic in our lives even if we don’t quite know why we would need it. I think I just might do that more often than most. God help us all if I win the Lotto. I’ll own a bunch of Chevettes, a bus, and an ambulance.

So how often do you day dream about some vehicle you have seen in passing? Do you dream up the entire build? And what kind of weird things are you attracted to?

All the time! Just yesterday I saw a converted army 5 ton wrecker that I have no use for at all, but I sat for almost an hour dreaming up the build I would have to rescue off road/trail rigs.

I have no need for this wrecker……BUT I WANT IT! I WANT IT BAD! But not quite as bad as I want an old ramp truck.

Oh yeah, the want for a wrecker or even better, a vintage ramp truck is strong. But then again, I think it would be even cooler to own a fire truck.

There is an old wrecker like that in the boneyard near me. I am afraid to ask what he wants for it. It is complete and off to the side of the picker vehicles

I saw an 8 door Checker limo out in nowheresville Michigan and really thought I wanted that! I am not sure why but it seemed to speak to me.

Given unlimited finances, storage space, and time, there’s a lot I’d like to own – a truck with decent towing capacity (or better yet, a ramp truck), a little sports car with an angry little four banger, a more traditional example of a V8 muscle car, some sort of expendable entry-level track car for wheel to wheel racing… But since all three factors are rather limited right now, I’ve got to pass on all of these.

This is a shared sickness with NO cure! I have 8 damn vehicles and I am still chasing a 70 LeSabre a few streets over. I will own it! FB Marketplace and Craigslist is nothing more than online mistresses of enablism fueling the lust and desire of all us motörhead’s !!

Far more often than daily, and not restricted to vehicles. It isn’t merely a sickness, it’s a frigid hearted “takeover” virus without even the compassion to kill you.
