Test Your Gearhead Knowledge! Identify This Mystery Piston From The Guys At Icon

This morning we made a point to stop in and see our pal Steve Valdez at Icon pistons to hang out and see what was new with the company that produced brands like KB, Silv-O-Lite, and of course Icon forged pistons. Steve was showing us around the booth when we saw this weirdo looking soup can of a piston and we thought it would be fun to test your gearhead knowledge and see if you could identify it. We’re not got going to give you too many hints here but we’ll tell you that it fits a classic American engine that has powered many a hot rod over the years.

While SEMA has its fair share of mud flap, under car lighting, and lame ass glue on stuff, the major manufacturers of hard parts are here as well. United Engine and Machine happens to be one of those companies and they’re the parent of the aforementioned brands above. If you have seen our Wednesday gallery (if not click here) than you have already seen more of the polished and awesome slugs from their booth. You’ve also seen some photos that depict the manufacturing process for the pistons as well. We plan on pumping these guys for more info in the future, so stay tuned. Until then, test your gearhead knowledge and tell us what this piston is intended to be used in!

It looks like the 11 and half to 1s that i put in my 396 years ago that I bought from P.A.W. ( performance automotive warehouse )

Yup, nailhead. Without dimension reference though hard to tell which. Most likely 401 or 425 though since they are the late units and more popular.
