BangShift Question of they Day: What the Hell is This Thing?

BangShift Question of they Day: What the Hell is This Thing?

This one has us completely and utterly stumped. This photo was posted by BangShift member Blazerteam and seems to show an old Buick that had truly horrible things done to it. Is this a motorhome? Perhaps a mobile meth lab? Some sort of botched government experiment? We’re open to any and all ideas because cannot make heads or tales of this mess.

It looks like the “builder” used the cowl and front half of the Buick (which we believe was a wagon) to start the “upper level” and if you squint it looks like there are two Buick wagon glass panels lined up in the rear.

Other than that, we’re at a loss.

Does anyone know what the hell this thing was supposed to be?

It has looked better. Not good, mind you, but better than this. Never saw any pics of the inside, which must have been quite a trip. As mentioned in the other comment, Hemmings has featured this thing a couple of times, and even has a picture of it driving.

The article has a link to another article with a photo of the beast going together. Apparently 2 Buicks and some filler.

If I were to guess at the builders source of inspiration, I woulsd say it was Harley Earls Aerotrain from the 50s.
