First Drive Video: A Big Block, Pro Street Chassis, and NOTHING ELSE

First Drive Video: A Big Block, Pro Street Chassis, and NOTHING ELSE

There’s nothing cooler than the first drive of a new project. Most of the time that drive comes when you are far from done with the car or truck. It comes when the thing has been running for all of 23 seconds and you just can’t help yourself. We know the feeling and so doesn’t every gearhead in the world who has ever turned a wrench on a car or truck that they love. This includes guys like our buddy Tommy Lee Byrd’s dad, who stars in this video. Actually the car kind of stars in this production because the whole program is pretty crazy.

There’s no body, no seats, no shifter, an unmounted steering column, and no exhaust. The engine is a 502ci big block Chevy, and this whole scene is awesome. The old school video quality lends itself well to this and the fact that the “car” gets driven a bunch and ends up doing burnouts before all is said and done. We do get to see the coupe body on the chassis before the video is over but as cool as that is, the look of a guy just riding a big block Chevy buckboard is pretty freaking intense.

This is gearhead fun!
