Chad has just informed me that the Sick Seconds Camaro, driven by Jeff Lutz has retired from competition on Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week. The team was struggling mightily today to get the car down the track and challenge Larry Larson’s 7.17/203mph run from earlier in the day and it was not to be. Chad suspects issues with the fuel injection or worse with the motor. At the close of racing the guys could not get the car to run on eight cylinders despite thrashing mightily. Rather than limp on, they decided to hang it up.
The Lutz piloted Camaro ran a couple of slow rolling ETs before putting up a best run in the 9s. Chad said that it kept putting holes out, particularly, the number two cylinder. We’ve not learned whether the issue was solely contained to the fuel injection and ignition, or if something far more nefarious is happening in the motor.
This news means that Larson’s week has potentially gotten easier and yet another Hot Rod Drag Week Unlimited title may be in his grasp come Friday. That being said, there’s still lots of driving to be done and laps to be made until this thing is over!
Stay tuned for more information on this breaking news…

So the rumors were true.
That the car wouldn’t last?
Larry just pulled into the hotel parking lot, it was raining on them the last several miles
Hey Denny, you sure did one thing yourself right. That was naming the Camaro. It’s so Sick, it barfs motors everywhere. Nice to see what goes around………
