I love good blues music and my definition of good blues music is blues music that involves cars. This is a tune by the awesomely named Big Joe and The Dynaflows where the lead singer (which we assume is Big Joe) sings about how he wants to by a big bruiser of a Buick with dual exhausts and a Dynaflow-drive transmission. The Dynaflow was a big deal for Buick when it rolled out in the late 1940s and they were made all the way into the early 1960s. Certainly never condiered a performance transmission, the things became known to hot rodders as “dyna-blows” or the “dyna slush” transmission. The did apparently shift smoothly, but really slowly.
This isn’t a song about the merits of the transmission, it is a blues tune that harks back to the days when people aspired to own stuff like a Buick with an automatic transmission and cruise the highways and byways of America. There is love in this man’s voice as he describes the big car and by the time this tune is over, you’ll be surfing eBay for a big old Buick of your own!

Nice shot of a ’61 Buick convertible
I had one of these.
It went like hell although stopping and turning were areas of concern.
Could I make a suggestion for a future “Daily Tuneup”? The song “Long White Cadillac”, by The Blasters.
Great site, by the way.
