If we were creating the “soundtrack of our lives” we’d have this song playing in the background every time we walking into a room. The tune may not be a dedicated “car song” but it is a great driving song. Green Onions was a hit song in 1962 rocketing up the charts and stopping at number three in the top 100. It pretty much stands as the signature tune of the group and Rolling Stone put it within the top 200 of their massive list of the 500 best rock and roll songs of all time.
The song has been in movies and televisions shows all over the place although its use in American Graffiti is our favorite because it fits like a glove with the time and attitude of the film. Like a lot of things in life, the song sounds pretty simple at first listen but once you really start paying attention to the music and the band, you realize just how great and intricate this song is.

Brian, you nailed it. This video is totally bad ass! Great version on this awesome tune! Every one plays their butts off, but Duck Dunn is on fire! Thank you for digging this one up. I can start to see that gloss black 55 Chevy now.
Paradise Road!
God, that was great! Gave me chills!
I see Chevy Hardcore is now doing Thursday Tuning, a blog item about car songs. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Or something.
