Video: The Places They Raced – Episode One – Fantastic Racing History From California

A week or two ago we told you about an upcoming documentary series based on the great Where They Raced books by Harold Osmer. We’re happy to report that the first episode of the series has been released and we’ve got it embedded down below. As you’d expect, the first episode starts right at the beginning. The beginning of the automotive age in America, the beginning of auto racing, and the true roots of the automotive culture in California. There’s great vintage footage of guys like Barkey Oldfield hauling around dirt ovals, there’s Osmer driving the same roads that some early racing pioneers competed on before WWI, and there are plenty of great historical stories to go along with it all.

This is a professionally produced video that watches just like something you’d see on Discovery Velocity. As you know, we’re certified racing history freaks here so stuff like this is right up our alley. We’re looking forward to watching the whole series of episodes. These are fantastic stories!
