BangShift Tune-Up: Live In Studio Performance of “The Shadowing” by Orbit Culture (2020)

BangShift Tune-Up: Live In Studio Performance of “The Shadowing” by Orbit Culture (2020)

Ok, no poetry, no prose. I’m speaking directly to you, reader. I know that this year, to date, has been nothing short of an M. Night Shyamalan horror movie, with plot twist after plot twist taking place. It’s easy to focus on the bad things that have happened and continue to happen. Australia burning, Beirut decimated, the pandemic, all of it…it sucks out loud and we can harp on it over and over, again and again, as events get cancelled and as more and more uncertainty builds up over the remainder of the year.

Ask yourself: are you sick of the negativity yet?

I am. I know things are ongoing. I know the pandemic isn’t over, I know that world events don’t stop because I’m six seconds away from smacking some drip-fed imbecile upside the head when they present conspiracy theories that even the X-files wouldn’t touch. I’m done with it. 2020, to date, has not been as bad as it could have been. We didn’t go to races or cover a lot of events due to tracks closing and government action, sure. But this year I finished the Imperial, started a new project car, and made huge progress on the other car that we’ve been wrenching on for years. We got Haley’s truck repaired from an uninsured crash and it’s looking sharper than new, with fresh paint. We’ve rebuilt our freaking house. We’ve been exercising and losing weight at BangShift Mid-West, the garden has been throwing out more fresh produce than we can handle, we’ve taken time to relax and breathe, and when work does come our way, we’re diving in full-force. Right now I’m more focused than I have ever been…every day for the last couple of weeks I’ve done something on one of the cars. And more is coming…very soon.

So, with that, I’m all but convinced that this song is my year-in-review favorite song from the year, and it’s going to take a jaw-dropper to prove me wrong. I’ve been rocking this song for months now and seeing the song played in a live setting just amplifies the enjoyment. The first thought hearing this song was simply, “Holy shit…that’s actually his voice!” Vocalist Niklas Karlsson sounds beastly on the album recording, but how many times have you heard those vocals fail to translate properly in a live performance?

Chances are good that right now, I’m shooting action trackside with this blasting in my eardrums. To hell with the heartaches and the hesitation…the remainder of this year is gonna be my bitch and this is the soundtrack playing. Enjoy.

I will agree that we have different tastes in music……if “music” is indeed the correct term to use in this situation.

  2. The Rocker

Power Rock! When it started my wife just said “What is that” and had a disgusted look on her face, so I knew it was gonna be good!!
