By now you’ve surely checked out our huge gallery from the Mardi Gras Nitro Jam, shot by our own Charles Wickam. One photo not in that gallery is shown below. It captures the position Charles was in to get the great shots of Les and Kent Shockley’s “Shockwave” jet truck. That position was akin to standing in the broiler of your oven. In fact, his position even freaked us out when we looked down from the tower and saw him looking like a potential human roasted marshmallow.
We were asked by an official if Charles knew what he was doing. Our reply? “Does it look like he knows that he’s doing!?”
Other than a mild sunburn, some singed arm hair, and a slightly more curly beard, Charles esacped unscathed. This photo is just begging for a caption, though. We’ve also suggested he invest in a zoom lens for such activities in the future. We have insurance, but we’d prefer not to use it!
