This might be the best Rough Start candidate I’ve found yet. I’m pleased with this one. The fourth-generation GM F-car might have it’s problems, but it has it’s potential and even when the power levels were down, it was easy to push the cars into Autobahn-worthy speeds. They aren’t a great family car, but they will behave like the RWD toy that you always wanted.
This 1996 Trans Am has the LT-1, six speed, and 3.42 rear gears. It’s a t-top car, and after that not much else is known. But the price is $1800 and it appears to at least run and drive. Even if there’s repair work involved that’s more than the claimed cracked taillight, are you really concerned? It’s nearly twenty years old…you should expect to do brakes and a clutch. And while the LT-1 doesn’t have the kind of aftermarket the LS-series has, there’s no shortage of methods available to make one stout. There’s no excuses, folks…keep your mullet jokes to yourselves, because this is a good risk to take.
That would be a fun car for the money. Doesn’t look to bad? I bought an 86 TA for a grand and had lots of fun. Then sold it for 1200. I’d buy it.
Your taste buds have seriously improved Mr. McTaggart
$1800 for a running/driving LT1/6spd? Would buy it in a heartbeat.
It may be a good price, but I still wouldn’t spend any amount of my money on an F body. I don’t care how fast it is if you’re leaving a trail of interior and body pieces behind you….
Less interior = less weight. Seems like a win-win to me!
Would buy without question. Needs nitrous!
Well cheap anyway.
an optispark is never a risk worth taking. If i had the time and money, I would see to it no car with an opti would remain on this planet.
