If you haven’t seen the news yet, BangShift.com will be providing FREE live streaming video from Rocky Mountain Race Week 2020. That’s all week, every race. That’s badass. It’s even more badass in my world because I’m going to be your host all week long on the livestream while Chad…well, last I checked in, he’s jamming an engine together for his Camaro, if I heard right. I’m not sure, I’ve slept since the last time I talked with him. But it also means that I get to roam around a section of the country that is more my speed: prairies and my home sweet home, the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. And I get to make that trip with my wife tagging along…maybe I’ll drive her up Pikes Peak for a real throwback into my history!
So, we’ve got five total stops: twice in Denver, Kearney, Great Bend, and Pueblo. And what better way to get psyched up for nearly two weeks on the road than by hitting up the listings and seeing what kind of junk is out there for sale? So I plugged in Kearney and decided to see what was for sale around Scott Liggett’s neighborhood. And oh, baby, did Nebraska deliver. Take one 1984 Cadillac Eldorado, ditch the front-drive powertrain and suspension setup that punished you for thinking about a corner, and mate it to the running gear and chassis of a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer, the full-size version. Underneath, stock 5.7, 700R4 overdrive automatic, and plenty of off-roading happiness. Inside, the comforts of a flat-floored Cadillac, only slightly marred by the transfer case lever and what sure looks like the Blazer’s instrument panel to us, fitted in front of the passenger. And how can you possibly miss the “Superfly” headlight trim bits?
