Rough Start: Run, Cash In Hand, And Buy This 1976 Chevy Malibu Right Now!

Hey, you. Yeah, you. The one who has been surfing Craigslist, eBay, AutoTempest and whatever other sites you peruse. The one who is tracking down something older to drive, that will be solid. The one who wants the opportunity to possibly make a profit on said car if they ever get bored of it. The one who thinks that they will be stuck buying something from the 1990s and calling it “classic” because that’s all that’s around them. We have a fantastic tip for you that you really might want to consider:

Head to British Columbia, invest in copper, and return home happy.

I could extol the virtues of the big-boy A-body Chevy for weeks on end. Here’s what you need to know: small-block anything works here, so don’t sweat the mid-70s power figures. Chevelles/Malibus from this era will surprise you with how well they handle for the size they are, and Caprice/Impala parts from the 1990s work on the chassis if you want more. In fact, don’t ask questions, just go. The Chevrolet is only selling for a thousand dollars in Canadian. That puts the car around $750, if you feel like being generous. Subtract the plane ticket there, the cost of importing the Chevrolet into the United States (yeah, it’s required), some new tires and as long as the car starts and moves, you’ll be up. After the paperwork clears, you can see the USA in your newly-acquired Chevrolet as you head back home.

So why would I want to buy a shit brown pile of Chevy?

This is about as interesting as counting lice in a wino’s beard and I would let him sleep in the Chevy before anybody turned up to test drive it,,,

For some reason, “It’s a British Columbia car” doesn’t sound quite as reassuring as “It’s an Arizona car”…

Actually, “It’s a British Columbia car” is pretty good news when looking for a Canadian car, because if it was in Ontario or Quebec or some other places, it would be much more rust coloured. British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, those are pretty good words as far as old car finding is concerned. Of course there is no substitute for a proper inspection

That`s right , British columbia on the sea coast have very mild winters , Alberta and Saskatchewan are colder but very dry . Anything east of that is rust paradise .

Don’t get me wrong – I love me some Colonnades – but a brown big-window round eye Malibu is just a big fat NO. It’s the bottom of the gene pool for the 73-77 A body.

I happen to own a 1975 malibu and it is now a headturner with a few custom tricks a laguna front, a 1973 rear end, Nice Dark green paint with gold pearl plus Nice wheels. A warmed up 355, flowmasters and 3:23 posi out back makes i go as Well. I havent seen any others around and i get more antention at the car show than all the camaros and other year chevelles do. Best of all i made mine for the same amount of money others use just to buy a rusty camaro or mustang. Sometimes it can pay off to look beyond the brown paint and the Big bumpers. Im just happy not Many do because then i can buy my parts cheap, and be happy with not having the same as everybody Else.

Quoting Fred Sanford,” beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes to the bone”. This one goes to the marrow.
