A Call For Parts: This 1954 Mercury Got Rear-Ended…Anybody Know Where To Find Taillight Lenses?

A Call For Parts: This 1954 Mercury Got Rear-Ended…Anybody Know Where To Find Taillight Lenses?

Consider this an official call for parts, BangShifters. While scouring the show fields at the Holley Hot Rod Reunion, I happened upon Hollis Booker’s 1954 Mercury. I’ve seen the car at many shows at Beech Bend over the last few years…it’s rather hard to miss the customized Merc. Unfortunately, my first thought wasn’t, “Oh, there’s that car again!”…no, instead it was, “I thought it had taillights the last time I saw it?” And unfortunately for Booker, that thought was his issue of the day. While on his way into Beech Bend, Booker was rear-ended. The other party told him that he had been distracted while checking out the Mercury. (The guy who rode in with Booker couldn’t wave the BS flag any higher if he was trying.)

Either way, the Mercury’s tail got shoved in a bit and the one-year-only taillights were reduced to shattered bits of red. Booker isn’t worried so much about the metal, but it’s the taillights he’s concerned about. He doesn’t know where to even start looking for them, so we are offering it up to you, readers: If you know where he can get a complete pair of lenses and housings, let us know in the comments below or drop us a line. Help us help get this Mercury back to looking good again.

I’d sure as hell would park mine inside from now on…too many people (?) have bad intent.

Yeah right – the guy who drove the car that rear ended this beauty is staggering around with a huge adjustable spanner sticking out of his head babbling about Mercury tail lights….
