Classic YouTube: Ford For 1970 – Torino, Mustang, Maverick And More!

I often get pigeonholed as a Mopar freak. Yeah, I know, my history points that way, with at least seven in my past and the most talked about being my Imperial, Mirada and Diplomat. But the truth is that I’ll accept just about any make or model, and that I appreciate most vehicles as they come. I’ve owned more GM products than anything else, I have a back catalog of memorable Fords in my history, and came very close to owning an AMC product twice. But let’s review the Fords in my history for a second: there was the 2005 Mustang GT I owned when I lived in Arizona that was a ball to hoon in the canyons, a 1999 Ford F-150 I wound up with as an “extended loaner” vehicle due to the unreliability of a Chevy Blazer I owned, and of course there is the Great Pumpkin Mustang that is my wife’s car. Then there was the 1973 Mercury Comet GT 302/4-speed, the 1972 Ford Torino with the stomper 351, the 1974 Maverick with a swapped in 289, the myriad of Ford trucks, and even a 302-powered Jeep J-10 that I grew up with. I’ve got a taste for older Fords.

Ford in 1970 was moving in several good directions…they knew the musclecar realm well, the Mustang could do no wrong, the Torino was brand new, the Thunderbird had been…well, “restyled” isn’t quite the right term, now, is it?…and the Maverick was quickly becoming a car to pick up, especially if you knew how to check the options boxes so you could get an under-the-radar street machine. The big cars weren’t bad either! We found a collection of television advertisements from 1970, and we are having trouble picking one out of what they are showing. Can you make a choice?

(And no, the stewardesses are not a choice.)
