Playing Mad Scientist: Making A Lawn Mower Carburetor Feed A Blown Small-Block Ford

In 2022, Luke took his absolutely ratty and glorious Ford Maverick and created a way to run that car’s 302 with the carburetor from a lawn mower and proceeded to break a lot of brains in the process. Not only could he get the small-block to start and idle, but he got it tuned well enough that he drove it on Power Tour and while he wasn’t going to win any burnout contests, he did prove the efficiency of his design (while at the same time repeating the “do not try this at home, I’m a professional” mantra).

Since then, Luke has more or less stayed quiet, He’s worked on a carburetor tuning system and pops in every now and then, but usually his Maverick is the star of the show. But that isn’t his only project. This ’65 Galaxie has been sitting in the background, waiting in the wings for years. The car has treated Luke the same way the Raven Imperial treated me: every time I was good to the car, it punished me as thanks.

Just like I did, he’s giving the Galaxie one last chance to make good before he makes the call to move it down the road. The difference between my situation and Luke’s is that he had put serious time and money into the car prior to walking away: a five-speed swap and a Weiand blower aren’t easy to walk away from. So, hit play and watch him give his high-school tormentor one last shot before it hits Marketplace:
