This Footage Of The New Ford GT Racer Lets You Hear Just How Rude Henry’s New LeMans Special Can Be

For a car whose lineage is filled with revenge, Italian anger, and four years of the biggest all-American one-digit salute they could offer Ferrari, Ford’s GT has actually been quite sonorous when it comes to it’s track manners. Both the GT40 and the 2005 GT sang a rev-happy V8 note down the Mulsanne Straight, the kind that the entire world over knows as the sound of American motorsports. With the new GT on the horizon for next year, though, one valid concern was the noise the 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 was going to make. Well, here is footage of your answer, clear as a bell. It’s not a V8 howl. It instead sounds like a LeMans racer after the $3.99 All You Can Eat special at that Mexican food joint down the block…it pops, bangs and farts like a rally car. And it should: two turbos and the anti-lag system it takes to keep them on boost always makes noise. And beyond the noise itself, the GT (in the video, as a before the debut mule) looks poised and composed as it whips around Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario, Canada. We can’t wait to see what it does in competition at the 24 Hours of Daytona.

I think he’s been off sulking ever since that last episode where Brian kept managing his posts and tirades.

As for the car, I like it. It has a vicious exhaust note, but I do agree with the idea that its fuel mapping needs a little TLC. It sounds lean and poppy in some places that makes me worry about its valvetrain.
