Burnout Monday: A Cummins-Swapped Ramcharger In The Burnout Box

Burnout Monday: A Cummins-Swapped Ramcharger In The Burnout Box

Torque equals happiness in our book. We’re sure you’ve heard the phrase, “Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you move the wall.” We like torque. Snotty 455ci Buicks, monster two-stroke diesels in old-school long-haulers, and the stratospheric numbers cranked out by the diesel tuners…all make us very happy. Take the Cummins in-line six-cylinder found in a lot of Dodge products: good torque from the factory, excellent numbers once some wrenches and a bit of know-how are applied. In the case of this 1987 Dodge Ramcharger 2wd owned by J&H Diesel, there’s plenty of it, courtesy of a kit-bashed Cummins that is composed of pieces and parts laying around the shop. The Ramcharger has seen the very low 11-second range, but the fun part is when the rear tires are lit up and the 47RH automatic starts banging through the gears. Care to know what kind of figures the diesel six makes under 74 PSI of boost? Yeah, we do too!
