Classic YouTube: Did You Think A 440 Could Fit In A Dodge Neon?

Classic YouTube: Did You Think A 440 Could Fit In A Dodge Neon?

Bless the Internet…a late-night search can turn up the most unexpected things possible. I don’t mean it like that, you freaks…I mean that with a little know-how and some time, you’ll stumble onto something you wouldn’t have even thought of.

Here’s how this worked: I was looking for good footage of a 440 Mopar of any kind being romped on that we haven’t already shown…every other engine that starts with a “4” got their day, but 440s get left out in the deal! Several pages of videos later, and I see…a Neon. Well, son of a…usually, that means that I’ve reached the end of the search and need to start over, but then I noticed the rear drive swap. You just aren’t going to hide some decent-sized rubber out back without calling attention to yourself. But it’s the engine…no, it’s the 13-inch stretch in the doghouse…no, it’s the noise and audacity of the build that grabbed our attention and refused to let go.

Chrysler’s 440 is a torque machine. In a full-sized C-body, they are legendary. In a lifted Ramcharger, it scared the holy hell out of a much younger me. In a ‘Cuda with three two-barrels on top, it’s nothing short of violent and raw. So what is the big RB mill like in a first-gen Neon? Bowel-clearing?!

Interesting, but it would have nice to see a little more footage of him getting on it.

you could put a 5.3 bore space motor in these FWD conversion cars. they look real easy to work on. i know one guy that can take the headers out from above on his Super Stocker Daytona
