Often times, when you search for a “race car” on eBay, you end up looking at homebuilt projects that may or may not be worth the time and money. For some of the prices you see on eBay, you had better have some reason to set your hard earned thousands of dollars down on the table. And with this 1971 Plymouth Duster, we have that reason: this Plymouth has been a full race car since new. Built by S&W Race Cars in 1971, this is a former Pro Stock ride that has somehow managed to live a pretty easygoing life. It’s not hacked up, it’s not completely brutalized, and has been certified for 8.50…”has” being the right word because it’s currently out of certification.
Last sporting a 472 and a transbrake-equipped auto, the Duster is now being sold as a roller…or with the engine, trans and a trailer if you are inclined to make a deal. How often does a deal like this come across the auction? Not too often. How far is it from street-legal? It doesn’t look too far from here…hello, Drag Week…
Beautiful Duster, too bad there is no title with car. I remember back in the late 70’s, one of my neighbor had an early 70’s Duster that might have been an old Pro Stocker. Unfortunately they moved before I had a chance to ask him.
Perfect for the LS turbo swap that is so well loved here!
Darn…I was going to say that!
tuned Hellcat power plant? I am thinking a snotty 440…loose the scoop and let a tunnel ram or blower poke thru the new hole….get it legal for the street….lordy that would be sweet
