As soon as I saw this 1974 Dodge/Winnebago RV, I couldn’t help but think of Chad. The Bearded One has an RV fetish that might actually be more unexplainable than my kink for unloved Mopars, and the stranger they are, the better he seems to like them. Using that logic, how could he not fall in love with a low-roof Winnebago? They can’t be too popular…I’ve seen more TransVan RVs than I have this particular design. The basic principle is the same, however: take a cargo van…in this case, a 318-powered Dodge B-series…and from the cab back, add a widened unit that offered up space that the original Dodge couldn’t. Unlike the TransVan, however, this Winnie Wagon (is that the right name?) looks to be more of a comfort cruiser than a real recreational vehicle, with large benches along the sides of the rear. Not much in the way of camping comfort, but for long stretches of travel with several friends, not bad either. Once the interior water leaks are fixed and the 318 is replaced by any other engine that makes more steam, this should be a killer highway mile muncher…right?
Money pit. Scarcity does not equal value. Not a “rough start” candidate.
