Carl Long Speaks Out on NASCAR Fine

On Sunday night, NASCAR racer Carl Long appeard on SpeedTv’s show, Windtunnel with Dave Despain. In that appearance, Despain asked Long about his controversial, and massive penalty from NASCAR which stemmed from the fact that his engine was found to be a couple of cubic inches too large at the NASCAR All-Star Race in Charlotte, NC several weeks ago.

Long was effectively kicked out of the Sprint Cup series by way of a $200,000 fine, the largest fine ever levied in the history of the sport. It needs to be noted that Long is a privateer and claims he has no means to pay the fine, which leaves him out in the cold.

The engine in question is one that Long purchased from an established builder who had actually constructed it for another team (which had apparently used the engine in competition). The whole thing stinks and we feel badly for Long who just seems like a guy who wants to get out there and compete again.
