Chrysler Archives Raided; GM’s Historical Documents at Risk of Destruction?

TheTruthAboutCars.com published an editorial recently that nearly drove us to tears. Apparently Chrysler has forsaken a large portion of its historical archive, to the point of allowing employees to raid sections of it and take stuff home.

The story asserts that GM’s massive archives are not in that type of direct jeopardy, but with the government crawling all over the place now, the chances for it to be deemed “unnecessary” are higher than they ever have been.

Admittedly we’re history geeks around here. The thought of all that information, documentation, and work done over the years could be at risk of destruction because some jagoff politician or disconnected executive who has neither respect or a freaking clue about the company’s role in American history is enough to make you sick to your stomach.
