Clay Millican, the most dominant Top Fuel racer in IHRA history will be running the full 2012 NHRA schedule with packing from the Parts Plus automotive parts distributor network. This will be the first time he has run the full NHRA schedule in several years after running a 12 race schedule with Parts Plus in 2011. We’re not sure if Millican will be running the upcoming PRO Winter Warm Up at PBIR that BangShift will be live broadcasting, but it will be great to see him out on the NHRA tour full time in 2012.
Millican is one of the most geuninely nice people in all of drag racing. We’re talking about a guy who made his living driving a fork lift and was a sportsman racer for years before getting a shot to develop his skills and drive a Top Fuel Dragster with friend and eventual team owner Peter Lehman. That relationship developed into the all conquering Werner Enterprises Top Fuel team that won the IHRA title six times because becoming part of the short lived Torco empire. After the Torco deal imploded, Millican became a part time runner, racing when he could and with who he could. It is fantastic to see him with full time backing for this year.

The Automotive Distribution Network has announced that it will sponsor NHRA Top Fuel competitor Clay Millican and his dragster through its Parts Plus brand for the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
“After the positive response to our sponsorship of MPE Motorsports and Clay Millican for 12 races last year, we’re committing to the full 23-event NHRA slate for 2012, providing extensive marketing support and pitside hospitality packages at tracks nationwide,” said Mike Lambert, Automotive Distribution Network president. “Hospitality ensures that our Parts Plus members and jobbers, as well as our manufacturer partners serving as associate sponsors, maximize our promotional efforts on a local basis to effectively reach the end user – the professional who throws away the box.”
Starting with the season opener in Pomona, Parts Plus affiliates will benefit from promotional product tie-ins and will have the opportunity to host the Top Fuel show car and driver at their businesses. The Parts Plus logo and vibrant orange-and-red color scheme will be prominently featured on the dragster and the transporter as well as on the driver and crew uniforms and the team’s vans, trucks, and chase cars. Logos featuring select manufacturers also will be included on the Parts Plus dragster as associate sponsors.
