There were few toys I loved more as a kid than my SST Muscle Machines and while I had not thought of them in a long, loooong time, when I ran into this YouTube video with a complete collection of ads for the whole set, I was a kid again. SST Muscle Machines were these awesome trucks that were tiny replicas of real life bad asses like Bigfoot, Orange Blossom Special, Warlord, and Black Gold.
They had a couple of forward speeds, they had reverse, they had no steering, and they had cool accessories. These were not remote control trucks, they just went in whatever direction you pointed them and pretty much over whatever was in the way. I had the Bigfoot and Orange Blossom Special trucks. I did not have the pulling sled you will see here but I did have the performance center and the crushable cars. It was perfect fodder for any kid who loved monster trucks and had an imagination.
We lived with these things roaming all over the front yard and probably ruined them by getting sand into the gears and guts of the trucks but all I remember is throwing the levers on the tops of them and having a blast as they did whatever they did.
If you had these trucks you’ll remember the “SST Muscle Machinessss” jingle that plays in these ads. It was the trigger that made me 10 again!
