So we’re conflicted. Normally we dismiss weirdo, human powered, pod-like vehicles milliseconds after seeing them. This one is a special case, though. First off, it’s amphibious, and secondly it has an electric motor so it can propel itself for a period of time. Is this thing cool?

The idea of pedaling this into a lake, flipping on the electric motor to power the prop, and cruising in the water is pretty appealing. The whole pod is waterproof and the inventor of this contraption has designs on taking it into the ocean. We think that’s a death sentence, but in a river or lake you could really freak some people out.

It’s called the HEPAV, a name that sounds like some sort of sexually transmitted virus. It stands for Human Electric Powered Amphibious Vehicle. Adding to it’s odd nature it was invented by a dude in the Czech Republic over in Europe.
