Third generation Camaros seem to be in an interesting time with regard to people’s opinion of them. They have moved from the “open mockery” phase to the “kind of cool” phase which is followed a few years later by a “I want one of those” phase and ends up with the “hey, that is a real L98 car!” phase that we have seen repeated with other cars like Pintos, Vegas, second generation Camaros, and any number of others. This car is perhaps a bit of an exception to that rule because as we mentioned in the title, it seems to have been constructed via a series of questionable decisions and downright hackery. The wheels are everything that was wrong with the 1990s, just all of it. The body kit and wing on the rear of the car are items that someone actually made and someone else actually bought because THEY LIKED THE WAY THEY LOOKED. In our perfect world, a couple guys got drunk one night, came up with the idea to sell these wings as a gag and then made a pile of money after being shocked that people actually bought them. Never underestimate people’s ability to make bad decisions, they’ll blow you away every time.
Speaking of bad decisions, this “roll bar” that the guys is trying to sell (he is parting out the car) is clearly made from exhaust tubing. You can actually see where the pinch bender kinked and bent the tubes. The kinks are important because they mean that the paper mache level of strength provided by the tubing has been diminished even further, ensuring your death in a roll over. No one wants to live only to be forced to answer the, “You thought that was a good idea?” question eleventy bajillion times. That being said, the guy clearly does think that this is a good idea because he’s parting out the car and is selling the roll bar as an individual piece for $75.00. It is listed as a “four point steel roll bar”. He should have added “aluminized” in front of the word “steel” to really kick things up a notch. Are we the only ones who can’t see the other two points?
The only other part of note on the car is a nine-bolt rear that has been modified with “traction bars” no photo included that the seller is looking to get $750 for.
