While a good portion of you are hammering away in your shops, heaters on, wrenches flying, some of you might be looking at the quick way out of project car hell. Can’t blame you, making the most out of a long gearhead season of shows, road trips, cruises and other fun events would be a killer way to spend the new year, wouldn’t it? So what’s the next obvious question..oh, yeah: what do you pick? Do you want an edgy, cranked-up hot rod? A go-anywhere, do anything off-roader? Tell you what…let’s go with an old favorite around here: the longroof, a.k.a. the station wagon.
We love our longroofs here at BangShift. Could be a mid-1990s Chevy Caprice or something much older, we really don’t care that much. They’ve got perfect bones for being great long-distance runners: room, ample power opportunities, luxury amenities ranging from bare-bones to “you’re spoiled” and for many years, the styling is just jaw-dropping. We know…Chad has a couple in his possession that many would donate body parts to science for. Channing Ivey sent in this 1966 Pontiac Catalina for consideration and we would jump for it in half a second. Ridetech air ride system, fuel injection, a clean interior, a stock-ish color with some ghosted scallops…it’s done, dude. Pay the man and go rack up the miles in this beauty.
Need to get rid of the rubber band wheels and re-chrome the bumpers, then it will be cool…
Gorgeous. Pontiac styling in 1966 was at a peak, imo. Would love to own this, but timing is everything and it’s just not in the cards right now. GLWS to the seller.
Yes , peak Pontiac styling 65-67. I have had several. Have a 66 Catalina ragtop now that I am restoring.
It’s sweet but I could get way more joy than that outta 18-5.
Yeah I\’m blind, but what ae they asking???
I used to have a 1965 Catalina sedan with the 389. I loved that car. It was amazing that, for a car that size, it wasn\’t boaty at all. It handled beautifully and the turning radius was really good. When it was running perfectly it was so smooth that sometimes you couldn\’t even tell that it was running when stopped at a light.
I still miss that car.
