Long-Roof Life: 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon With A Six-Speed And Drag Week History

Long-Roof Life: 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon With A Six-Speed And Drag Week History

Oh, was it so long ago that the station wagon was the butt of jokes? Too large, too unwieldy, too much woodgrain appliqué, too much fuel going down the throat of a V8 that had all of the cylinders but none of the power from the days of old. Yeah, it’s been a while since riding to school in a wagon was the ultimate penance for something you must’ve done wrong in a past life. Nowadays? For the love of everything holy, we’ll take a wagon over some silver crossover with all-wheel-drive that works great for when it lightly rains and the parking lot entrance is a bit slick. It might not have the ground clearance of a proper sport-utility, but there’s plenty of cargo room and comfortable places for the passengers to sink into. And in the case of this Caprice, there’s something for the driving delinquent too.

If you follow Drag Week at all, you might recognize this car. It’s a turbocharged LT-1 based machine that’s manually shifted via a T-56 six-gear unit. This thing will bust out a 12.8 quarter on pump fuel, 12.4 on the good stuff, and still has air conditioning. Dude, it’s not everyday that our used car listing hunts provide something we’ll 110% back, but someone needs this car. Whether they want a hot hauler, or want to introduce the whole family to the fun game of “Why is Daddy on the two-step when we’re leaving the grocery store?!”, this Caprice is an unbelievable bargain for what you’ll be getting in return. Miles per gallon? Who cares when you’re barking third gear with the kids cheering you on!
