Money No Object: The “Chemical City Coupe” 1932 Ford 5-Window With Buick Nailhead Power Would Look Great In Your Driveway!

I’d love to sit down one day and figure out where Chad, Lohnes and I sit on typical cars. Not big trucks, not rusted Chevrolets, and not weird-ass Mopars…builds that really matter. Builds that would make any self-respecting wrench stop and make noises that would border on the obscene. The kinds of cars that make old men smile, young kids go nuts, and the police reach for their ticket book. The rides of old, the real-deal hot rods that for all of my knowledge, I tend to know very little about. Proof? I spent a few minutes researching the model name of this 1932 Ford so I could be accurate with the link. Thirty-five years on, and I had no idea it was the Model B. Never stop learning, folks, it’ll do you some good.

You know what else will do you some good? Trying something new. A ’32 Ford hot rod, as a platform, has been done to death and then some. But good luck finding more than a couple of examples with Buick Nailhead power. Anti-Chevrolet fans, behold: it might not be a Ford in a Ford but there is nothing to say about a bellybutton mill here. A 401, backed up to a five-speed manual, in a car this light? You know that whole “power to weight ratio” argument that a lot of import guys cling to like gospel? Here’s the Old Testament, you little squirt…prepare for a full-on hellfire and brimstone sermon on the good old days with this beauty. If you aren’t singing praises by the end of your lesson, there is no saving you.

“This car was built to be driven hard. It features an original Henry Ford Steel body that was chopped 5.5 inches and had the windshield laid back for a more aggressive appearance.

The body was place on a heavily modified 1932 Ford chassis featuring full torsion bar suspension on the front and rear.  This offers adjustability and an improved ride while retaining traditional styling. The front of the chassis has been bobbed and pinched. It features an ultra-rare Ford V8/60 axle, 1940 ford brakes and 1934 Ford shocks.

The drivetrain consists of a 401 Buick Nailhead engine with an Offy dual quad intake and Edelbrock carbs. It has and big Iskenderian cam and is probably the best sounding Nailhead you will ever hear. The transmission is a World-class T5 5-speed manual with a hydraulic clutch. The rear end is an original aluminum Halibrand Champ quick-change with magnesium bells.”

It’s a hot rod that you need to get in and romp on to enjoy, and it’s set up to do just that without looking like a car show car. Where’s that winning ticket at?

This thing almost looks like it’s ready for a dirt track if the paint and bodywork weren’t so straight, with the torsion bar straight axles and quick change rear. There can’t be that many builds that combine a Nailhead and a 5 speed.

Awesome and I don’t give a damn that there’s a Nailhead in there as well!
