This 1969 Ford Fairlane is spectacular. I mean epic. I mean both! For sale here in SoCal, this car is amazing. The asking price of $4800 might seem a little steep at first, and I would want the seller to come off that price a bit, but keep in mind that everything on it has been freshened with regards to suspension and brakes and tires. It’s got new shocks, new carpet, and it runs like a champ, just listen to it in the video! This car totally reminds us of the Streets of San Francisco, and every other early 1970’s TV show for that matter, and makes us want to treat it like a detective’s car and have our own magnetic light and a siren! Wouldn’t you just love to sit in this thing every day in traffic next to some chump in a Prius? Oh yes you would my friend, oh yes you would!
Here is what the seller has to say along with our comments.
Starts first crank every time. This car is so much fun to drive and I’ve really enjoyed owning it. Ready to move on to something else and let someone new enjoy it.
Brand new General Grabber All Terrain tires – Because you never know when you are going to have to get all Dukes of Hazzard and tear up a fire road somewhere!
New brakes- shoes, springs, hoses, master cylinder and drums turned. –This is work you wouldn’t want to have to do and it’s already done for you!
New front suspension- upper and lower control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends with sleeves, sway bar bushings and strut rod bushings, control arm. – See above. Rebuilding suspension is a pain in the ass.
New shocks all around – Bring on the jumps and curbs!
Tune up- plugs, wires, condenser, points, fuel filter, carb rebuild, pcv, fresh oil change.
New carpet kit

just the facts ma’am
“Wouldn’t you just love to sit in this thing every day in traffic next to some chump in a Prius? ”
Uh no, I wouldn’t, especially with no A/C, points ignition, carb, 13-16 mpg etc. but at least you learned another adjective. Does this mean you retired ‘awesome’ as your main descriptor ?
And no one mentions mileage of this turd, unless shown on the video, which I did not watch, because really – why ?
$ 4800 ? Put the crack pipe down. If you want a car like this, do a little shopping and come up with a “Grandma is stopping driving’ late-model Crown Vic or Marquis for the same money and play cop dick all you want.
Dude, go chew on a turd. Why even go to a web site if you are going shit on everything?
Why are your even on here? What self-respecting car guy that’s into old American cars, doesn’t think this thing is all sorts of awesome.
Yes, the price is a little high. But as, Chad said you could probably get the seller to come down a bit.
You must be smoking something, mighty strong. If you think a late model Vic or Marquis, has even half the presence that this thing has.
Is this the illegitimate son of Guitarslinger and Colorado kid?
Yeah… you don’t “get it” at all. Miles on a car this old mean absolutely nothing, you buy an old car on condition, and this one is in damn good shape. OMG it doesn’t have a/c, and it’s got points and a carburetor!!!” Quit being a wimp.
I like it…a lot.
428 P.I. C-6, oil cooler. I have a set of the period correct stainless steel poverty caps off a ’69 Cobra. That is pretty much all I would change on the car.
Not everyone wants a Camaro
With the escalating prices of even bread and butter rides, especially wagons, I have warmed up to the idea of a driver/sleeper 4 door. The price has to be ‘ 4 door’ cheap. Definitely no frills, el cheap-o trim level with steel wheels. This Fairlane fits the bill.
Do “White Lightening” imitated! It’s not a LTD but close. Drop the rear, ditch the hubcaps, pop in a 4 spd and have some fun!
Price seems a little high – until you try to rebuild a crapper to this status. $4800 is money in the bank – my garage, driveway, storage room, separate storage unit, and office all concur.
I will not even dignify this mind-numbingly boooooooooooooooring pile of crap with any further comment!
You just did…
Want.
I wonder if a coyote motor will fit in between the shock towers or will a mustang II suspension swap be necessary
