We’ll admit right off the bat that this CraigsList motor for sale is not all that impressive of a horsepower maker. That sounds completely idiotic when we tell you that it makes 1,200 horsepower, but let’s be honest. A 540ci big-block Chevy making 1,200 isn’t a newsmaker anymore due to the insanity that turbochargers have brought upon us. What can’t be faulted however, is the aesthetic.
A 14-71 blower, however inefficient, is still awesome. This motor, although not a world-beating, horsepower-throwing dyno killer, would still motivate any hot rod to performance levels that would flatten eyeballs, loosen bowels, and turn the owner into the town hot rod hero.
We’d argue until we’re blue in the face that there is still something worthwhile about going down the thoroughly beaten path of old school performance. We’d never talk badly about EFI, turbocharging, or any other new age technology, but man, dragging your knuckles on the pavement has it merits every once in a while.
