Craigslist Pick of the Week: A Monte We Wanty

Craigslist Pick of the Week: A Monte We Wanty

This one is personal. Back in high school in the late 1990’s we knew a kid, whose name we’ll withhold to protect him, who had this identical car. It’s so close to the car he had, we were actually thinking it was his car for a second, then we remembered his went out in a blaze of glory.

As you can imagine, it was not too common for high school kids to be rolling around in vintage, big-block muscle cars in 1998. We thought we were hot poop with our mildly breathed on ’88 IROC packing a TPI 350. Image our shock and envy when an evil, black 1971 Monte Carlo rolled into the school lot one morning. It kicked into high gear when the hood was popped and 402ci of Rat showed itself.

This car is an identical twin to the Monte we knew in high school. The black vinyl roof, black paint, and black interior are totally bitchin’ and the nitrous fed big-block in this one makes for fun city any time you hit the loud pedal and button at the same time.

The Monte we knew in high school met its end on a rainy night. The kid driving the car laid into it at a moderate speed, broke the rear end loose and spun it backwards into a used car lot at better than 50 mph. The big Chevy was battered but there were several sub-compacts killed on impact.

Click the link to see the ad. This car is coolness.
