The yearly gathering of Volkswagens is a southern California tradition for VW Bug junkies and it’s been going on for decades, dating back to the long gone Orange County International Raceway way era.

HOT VWs Drag day has a lot to offer for every kind of air-cooled VW Enthusiast with a small swap meet, car show & shine and hot VWs packed into the staging lanes waiting for action on the Irwindale 1/8 mile Dragstrip, attracting nearly 200 racers.

In competition, there are three Trophy Brackets, a Powder Puff class, Pro Eliminator, Super Stock and a quick Outlaw Turbo class.
It’s awesome how many Bugs still live and race in the Southwest and HOT VW’s Drag Day is a fun event no matter what you like about Volkswagens.

Most of the entries are sure daily drivers and those Westfalia Camper Vans look cozy enough curl up in.
Here are photos from the recent HOT VW’s Drag Day at Irwindale Dragstrip, they’re already on the schedule for March 2018.
