If you can stay awake through all the circle-track stuff on the SPEED channel, you’ll eventually get to see Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain. It’s a neat show focused on all different types of racing from all over the world. It’s lots like FJY.com in the sense that it discriminates against no one.

If you’ve not seen the show, it is run like a radio show on TV with guests and callers. We like to use the show to keep tabs on racing series that we have a cursory interest in, but don’t want to commit hours to watching races every week.

The other great thing about the show is the fact that Despain is not afraid to share his opinions on topics far and wide. He’s got the credibility to back up whatever he’s saying, too.

Anyway, it was announced today that he has signed a multi-year contract with the network, thusly confirming the existence of Wind Tunnel in its present form for years to come.

There are so many talking heads out there it’s easy to tune everyone out, but Dave’s a guy worth listening to. Dave likes tires, no matter what they are attached to. That’s an attitude we can appreciate.
