Don Baskin’s Chevrolet Collection Is Incredible – Chad Would Hyperventilate Upon Entry

Don Baskin’s Chevrolet Collection Is Incredible – Chad Would Hyperventilate Upon Entry

Recently, the guys over the Chevrolet Performance’s “The Block” blog made it to the giant car collection of Don Baskin and what they found was nothing short of incredible, especially if you are a lover of things with  bow ties on them. Baskin has amassed one of the country’s largest and most valuable collection of rare Chevys, especially COPO stuff (and not just Camaros). Chad should be writing this story but the reality is that when I sent him a couple of the photos to look at he began clutching his chest and screaming so I took that as a cue to just go ahead and bang the keys on this one myself.

While the story here focuses primarily on COPO and other rare Camaros, if you keep your eyes peeled into the background you can see that Baskin’s thirst for muscle cars is nearly unquenchable. There are Fords and Chryslers in his massive fleet, which is all kept in a really cool building. We’re not sure if Chad had the hots worse for the 1967 Z/28 that is still original DOWN TO THE TIRES or the real and completely original 1969 ZL-1 Camaro. Those are two cars so famous and bad ass that their names have been revived by Chevrolet within the last couple of years to sell two killer high performance Camaros.

The photography in the story is great as well and if you are a fan of classic American muscle cars than this story is one to give a look too, even if it is just for the pretty pictures and the “extra stuff” in the background. We’re not sure what Don Baskin’s business is or was but we do know that when it was going good, it had to have been going REALLY GOOD. This is one if the most incredible private collections we have ever seen.

A misnomer that is used over and over again for some muscle cars . . . Radio Delete. There is no such thing because a Radio was never standard on any muscle car. It was always an option. It’s like saying a car with no vinyl roof is a vinyl roof delete car. The only valid deletes were no heater/defroster and in some rare cases, deleting standard front disc brakes for drum brakes (they are lighter – of interest to hardcore drag racers)

Cool Pics, but you would think that the photographer would be aware enough not to include a whole row of Fords in a pic used on a Chevy website.
