Sometimes we take for granted that most of us live within a couple hour drive of the local drag strip. You can be-bop to the strip on a Sunday and see a couple hundred cars reeling off laps all day. There’s lots of places in the world where that is an impossibility, like on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia.

Luckily for fans of drag racing on the island, they had the chance to get a rare fix recently with the “Drag Wars” event that drew cars from places like Grenada and Trinidad. They had some Super Comp type dragsters, some door slammers in the 8s, and a Hyabusa that also managed to turn an 8-second lap. The St. Lucia Star covered the event.

We’ve been to St Lucia on a vacation and it is one of those rare places that you spend a little time on and never want to leave. Now that they have a drag racing scene that’s even more true!
