Like the Cosworth Vega we showed you earlier today, this 1962 Corvair 95 rampside truck is priced at $1500 and seems to be right on the money. Unlike the Vega, the seller claims that this truck runs and drives and was actually driven into the parking spot it is in now. The truck was used by some someone in a contracting trade because there’s a home made ladder rack mounted on the bed and on top of the cab. If we bought this truck, the ladder rack would be staying and there wouldn’t be a lick of paint added to the program. This thing seems to be perfectly weathered. From the photos, there are no signs of major league rust, just weather beaten paint and a bed that was definitely used during its working life. These trucks are pretty hard to come by and we’re a little surprised to see this one listed for just $1500 bucks. When’s the last time you saw one in person? It has definitely been a couple years for us.
We’re not sure what the big hangup was with “forward control” style pickup trucks in the 1960s but everyone had a model. Jeeps had their “FC” trucks, Chevy these Corvair units, Dodge had their A100, and Ford had their famous Econoline trucks. They were all gone about as quickly as they came after people realized that they were as comfortable to drive as a torture rack. In our opinion, these were the best looking ones of the bunch, plus the side gate into the bed was a genius idea that you’ll never see replicated because of the ride height of today’s trucks. Landscapers and other small contractors would kill for an option like this on a truck today.
We think that this is a great deal on a unique truck. $1500 and it runs? Hell yes.

If i bought that, me and my buddy could be twins. But then my CorVan might be jealous.
How does a truck in New Lebnon OHIO end up listed in the Knoxville TN area of craigslist?
It would be a neat parts runner swap/ meet truck. Probably slower than molasses in January loaded up with an engine.
A Craigslist seller from the middle of the rust belt claims “hardly any rust”. I believe we all should know how to translate that!
I noticed that there weren’t any photos of the 2 most rust prone areas for that truck: the dog let in the door frame and the bottom of the rampside.
It looks like they’ve included an extra Corvair radiator in the bed.
funny the pics are from December 2011 This should be flagged you aint allowed to post ot of your local areas
Jay Leno’s keen on Corvairs and has one like this, perfect of course, but he notes you definitely don’t want to get into an accident in one.
I’ll take the Vega and a few quarts of POR.
I love Rampsides, my fave FC Corvair 95 model, which designates the 95 inch wheelbase.
It looks like it has a manual transmission, 3 or 4 speed, and ’62’s had the ‘goofy’ shifter, so called because it comes out from under the seat, because the linkage goes around the fuel tank which is directly behind the front suspension cross member.
Shifting an early model like this is kind of like fishing for gears until you get used to it.
The ’63 1/2 models had a redesigned fuel tank with a tunnel through the middle so the shift linkage rod could be mounted on the floor like most other vehicles, and it shifts quite precisely considering the length of the shifter rod.
