Lately our Craigslist finds have been strange contraption but this is a literally thing of beauty and it is priced right, too. We often joke about “if we had the money” but really, if we had the money we’d be on the way to buy this completely perfect 1978 Chevy Bonanza truck that has had a 5.3L LS engine installed and installed right.
The paint looks perfect, the stance is dead nuts, the body painted steel wheels are enough to bring a single tear dripping down our cheek, the interior is so clean it looks like a crime scene renovation company has been in there, the engine swap looks factory, the seller is literate, provides all kinds of good details on the truck, and it has a damned 4L60E in it. Seriously, unless this guy is killing people with a hatchet when the come to look at it, there are no faults to find with this truck and if we got to drive it before he got us with the hatchet, we may still be OK with the whole scene.
The best part? The dude is asking $4500. We can’t even bitch about the price because the truck is so nice and could be driven across the country without a hiccup with the modern parts. The good angel says that if we bought it, the truck would stay as is and get used as a driver all over the place. The bad angel says that this truck will get a single turbo in about 30 minutes after arriving home and then go terrorize the streets and strip. What” You guys don’t have voices in your head like we do? Maybe should have left that part out.

Go to Gateway Classic Cars website,you will see my 1974 Dodge D100 Club Cab with a full frame off restoration with a 5.7 Hemi in it. Three deployments paid for the restoration while I was stationed aboard the USS Nimitz.
