eBay Find: A 1934 Chevy That’s Built To The Hilt – But Is It Too Much?

eBay Find: A 1934 Chevy That’s Built To The Hilt – But Is It Too Much?

You can find lots of Pro Street style hot rods for sale on eBay. Most look the part, but don’t have all that much in the suds department. Then there’s the select few cars like this 1934 Chevy. It has a seriously bad ass blown Hemi, a Lenco transmission, a no frills interior, and what seems to be the chassis to match all of that power. As cool as it is to look and at idle around it, we’re wondering if this is too much car for the normal BangShifter, if it is just about right, or if there’s anyone crazy enough actually kick it up harder?

Before you wonder, the seller claims that the car has hit the track twice and both times it blew the head gaskets out. The seller claims the gaskets left the building because of the big boost being made by the ultimately rare Lenco (yes, LENCO) supercharger. As a fix, the block was machined for o-rings and they have been installed, but the car has not been back to the strip since. The seller claims that he drives the car some on the street and that in normal driving 210 degrees is normal, but in traffic it climbs higher. How much higher? Your guess is as good as ours.

The interior, with the full roll cage, fully exposed Lenco, and apparent kids nap mats for seats isn’t something your girlfriend or wife will be jumping to get into, but maybe that’s not a concern. This car really looks like an animal! We’d love to see someone buy this thing and really get it sorted out at the strip. It has to be very light and with the baffles out of the zoomies, that blown Hemi 392 would sound fantastic.

There’s lots more details in the ad, so scroll through the photos and hit the link at the bottom to see the full scoop on this radical 1934 Chevy coupe. Is it a $75,000 suicide machine?

This is one of those cars that is cool to look at, but which would be hell to live with.

I wonder if it “features” a blower belt hub starting method? That would be more in keeping with the look than the regular key operated flywheel starter and just as impractical as the rest of the vehicle.

just like a high priced hooker.. nice to look at and play with -but not to practical. BUT I would like to give it a go just once….

Is it too much may be the least of your worries in light of the information given .

From the details this sounds more like a $75,000 Hand Grenade just waiting to explode in your face . e.g. all the head gasket problems ! That tells me not a whole lot of thought went into the engineering of this thing …..

Without even having driven this I’ll guess ; All Show … damn near Zero Go ( without going ballistic ) and don’t plan on it getting you back anytime soon should you be foolish enough to take it for a drive .

FYI ; @ Elmer – Stick with the wabbits . This’ns out of your league and just say no !

Fire ringed the heads that should clear up the blown head gaskets. But how high does that temp gauge go in traffic. If definatly looks like it will kill you.

This reminds me of my unreasonable desire to build a license platted center drive single seat altered with a LSx and a pair of turbos. Actually been looking at used chasis lately. Something with a 120″ wheel base or so. It would have to be sprung front and rear, headlights, tailights, turn signals, etc added…and have a full manual 4L80E with a brake. Then I would drive it across the country…

Too much for what? The drag strip? It’s tame compared to some of the machines that have run over the years.

Funny about in the article it says about what your girlfriend will think. I had the car out Sat. night and went through the gears pretty good. My wife looked like the girl in Deathproof!

Love the stance, but if you want to drive more than a quarter mile, it does not make much sense. The Lenco blower blocks your view of the road, and has a tendency to run hot. The tiny front tires will insure all turns are taken at a sedate pace, and the seat will become uncomfortable in short order. If your interests lean towards car shows, this is the vehicle for you.
