eBay Find: A 1956 Ford Fairlane Custom Pro Streeter With The Heart Of A Rat!

eBay Find: A 1956 Ford Fairlane Custom Pro Streeter With The Heart Of A Rat!

Some of you will love this car and some of you will hate it. The lovers will be guys like us who don’t really get to worked up over crossbred engine swaps. The guys who hate it will be hardcore Ford fans that can’t see why someone would go through the work of slamming a big block Chevy in this thing where a fat block Ford would drop in just as nicely. Whatever your preference on engine type, there is no arguing the clean looks and great finish of this car. It was professionally built and it shows in the paint, stance, interior, and overall construction of the classic Ford.

More than just capable of idling around a fairgrounds, the car was (according to the seller) drag raced before it was painted and it went 9.09 in the quarter mile. That’s hauling some ass! The engine is advertised to be be putting out nearly 1100hp at the rear tires so if that’s the case, the single digit elapsed time could be on the money. The whole car was put together using great pieces and the paint was just laid down in 2012. Here’s a list of stuff the seller had in the ad:

Merlin tall deck 598 motor.
Dart 355 pro 1 cnc ported heads.
Diamond 8.5 to 1 forged blower pistons, oliver rods , studded heads and mains.
Custom ground roller cam.
Msd crank trigger, Msd Flat top Distributor Msd 7 Box.
Polished Indy manifold with sfi burst panel. 14-71 Mooneyham Blower with restraint straps.
1050 Quick fuel carbs jetted to the engine.
Canton oil pan with an oil cooler.
This motor is Blue Printed and no expense was spared.
Griffin radiator, thermostatic fan.
Ceramic black coated big tube headers with a black ceramic coated 4 inch exhaust.
The Trans is a manual Cohen T – 400 with a trans brake, trans shield, and trans cooler. The trans is capable of 1500 H.P.
Cheetah Pro-Shifter
The Fairlane has a full cage.
Auto meter gauges.
All new gray interior, red dash, carbon fiber.
Racing belt restraints.
Racing Seats, and they are comfortable, and they hold you in when your foot gets a bit heavy, very nice.
The front suspension has A-arms with a rack and pinion setup, steers straight, and easy to maneuver.
The fire wall has been smoothed.
Ford braced 9 in. with 4-11 gears and ladder bars.
Single wheelie bar.
Aero fuel system
Dual optima batteries.
Polished aluminum 15 gal fuel cell.
Four wheel disc brakes.
New Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, Weld Star wheels.
Tube and square chasis fabrication, and beautiful.
All the lights and directionals work.
The Body is straight as hell and all steel.
All new chrome.
The list goes on and on.!!!!!!
Well over $130k to build this car.
The car is titled, and is free and clear in my possession.

As we said above, the whole big block Chevy in a Ford thing doesn’t bug us, especially because this car is blindingly fast, so we’d own it in a heartbeat. The seller is looking for $75,000 buy it now. That’s a big chunk of change, but this car seems to be worth it in our eyes. Super well done and a show stopper wherever it goes (outside of an all Ford show).

Great proof of the saying “the way to make a million is to start out with two million”.

If someone wants to build a car, they can do it however they please as long as it is safe for its purpose (street/race/show). I grinned when a Toyota six was put into a first gen Camaro. That thing was fast, and built well. The 57 Chevy with a Mopar 440 was awesome! I also think a Buick with a 426 Hemi would turn heads and start more than a few conversations.

Although the more i think about it, a first gen riv with a blown hemi sounds like a sweet deal…

E-body Cudas and Barracudas are too hard to find and expensive to do that to, and the early A-body Barracudas need major fabrication for even a Mopar R or RB block.
I do like your idea of a boattail Riv. with a blown hemi though.

Why do idiots want to ruin perfectly good Fords by putting Chovie engines in them. And it ain’t to go fast or they’d either have a Ford engine or a Mopar engine in it.
If it’s a Ford use a Ford engine, if it’s a Mopar use a Mopar engine, if it’s a Chubbie use a Mopar or Ford engine:).
