eBay Find: The Mother Load – 550+ Unmolested Classic Cars That Have Been Living In The Desert For 50 Years!

eBay Find: The Mother Load – 550+ Unmolested Classic Cars That Have Been Living In The Desert For 50 Years!

Someone with some deep ass pockets is less than a month away from owning what has to be one of the greatest collections of unrestored old cars in the world. This eBay ad is for the contents of a “family owned towing storage lot” that have sat in the Arizona sun for decades, some since the Kennedy administration. There are few details given about exactly what’s here for cars, but we’re guessing there are lots of pretty pedestrian machines with a couple of true gems mixed in for good measure. With 550+ cars there HAS to be something cool in the lot.

According to the ad, an estimated 97% of the cars in this “collection” are totally complete with engines and drivelines. The sheetmetal is probably perfect, the interiors cooked to a crisp, and the patina must be great having had half a century of sand blasting provided by mother nature. In each of the photos below there are at least five cars (OK 10) that we’d consider selling off an annoying family member for. This is an amazing deal and there can’t be but a handful of them left like this on Earth. Even the crazy dude in Vermont that is still trying to sell all of his stuff can’t claim the condition that these cars are in!

Thanks to Arild for the tip!

what sux is I know where that yard is, drove by it more times than I care to count and never knew it was there, theres a 15 foot berm built up around it, its not to far from the old GM proving grounds

This is the place….. Hidden Valley…… Owned by the Hoctor’s, who are know for owning many wrecking yards in the Phoenix area, I’ve been to Hidden Valley a few time, they do have a nice selection, so if you are looking for that hard to find part, definitely give them a try….

That particular Hidden Valley Yard is no longer there! It is back to desert now and the son has a yard across the road on the other side of the tracks. Not as many cars now!

Oops, I guess I should have looked at the ebay add, the place does look like Hidden Valley, but apparently it’s someone else….. Sorry for the confusion…..

Wow! Wish I knew what the buyer is going to do. I’d love to list them as a vintage part are vintage car resource on our Resources webpage. (www.RubberHitsTheRoad.INFO)

And then of course there are all the cars that I’d love to have – especially the 4 doors and wagons, which have peaked my interest in recent years! I’m digging that sedan that’s front and center in the first pic! I think it’s a Chrysler of some sort.

I would take all of the long roofs and put them on modern chassis’ and then sell them…
and if there is a 60’s or 70’s Dodge van, i’d do a custom interior and add classic mags and sidepipes and maybe, big MAYBE, leave the outside alone .

He’s talking roughly a grand a car and you have to move. When you start doing math figuring a third of them at minimum have no real value I’m not sure that’s such a great deal. Still cool, just throwing in a little serious thought.
