Money No Object: This Clean 1993 Chevy Dually Is Packing A Supercharged Rat Under The Hood!

Money No Object: This Clean 1993 Chevy Dually Is Packing A Supercharged Rat Under The Hood!

We can’t leave well enough alone with a good dually truck around here. Luckily, Brian and Chad both have trucks with duals at their house and as for me, I’m using a slightly disgusting Caddy limo as a pickup truck for a work vehicle and we have Haley’s pickup as our nice truck. I’ve never had a dually, though…closest I ever came was via a friend of mine, Hunter, who had a big-block 1970s Chevy 3+3 romper as his high-school ride. There were the 920-series trucks I drove in the Army, too, but those are more like medium duty trucks…ok, I’m getting off course. Point is, I’ve never had a dually truck and while I don’t see that changing any time soon, that doesn’t mean that I don’t look. After Chad’s hunt last year, I looked myself for some dual rear wheel goodness just to see where the costs were. Hence, disgusting Cadillac.

Now look at this thing: 1993 Chevrolet K3500 dually four-door. The classic GMT400 look with some minor customization. I love the air dam with the fog lights. I like the wheel choice. I can even dig the ghost flames on this thing, and normally I’m not one for flames on anything. But the interior is 1993-PIMPED and underhood…of all things holy…a supercharger sitting on four hundred and fifty-four cubic inches of deep-throated awesomeness. I’ve driven 6.5L diesels…no thank you, I’ll take a blown Rat any day of the week. My only gripe with this thing is that the interior is in need of a slight updating…I’ve got an iPad bigger than than TV the rear passengers enjoy and the screen next to the gauges…unless that is running a navigation setup, it’s time for that to go, too. But that’s minor notes…very minor notes…for this low-mile road hauler.

It’s useful and cool…but is it wrong that the first thing I want to do is to go whip donuts with this thing? Am I immature?

A friend once loaned me the slammed-2WD version of that to use as a vacation tow rig and I gotta say, the blower and reprogramming really fixed what’s wrong with the 454 other than mpg of-course. Let the revs up and bury your foot and the sucker made some actual power and there was no overheating etc. Still the fuel pump quit and stranded us, an aftermarket wheel cracked, and the trans would fail shortly after returning it making for a big repair bill. No thanks.

Looks very much like a Canepa design build. The PIAA fog/drivng light combo in the valance, black chrome bumper, whipple blower and MoMo steering wheel were all things Canepa did.
