Normally old race cars come with interesting histories. People know when they were bought and where, who raced them, what tracks they competed in and how successful they were. In the case of this interesting 1970 Pontiac GTO we were tipped off it, none of that is true. The first 30 years of this car’s life are a virtual blank page.
Sporting a metal flake paint job and graphics that scream mid to late 1970s this car has probably been a racer for most of the time it has been around. The current owner bought it for a song when the owner of a storage facility decided to sell it because the guy storing the car had not paid him in years.
Now located in Texas, the car spent time in Pennsylvania where it was lettered and probably raced. It is a runner, capable of 12-second time slips from a recently rebuilt 400ci Ram Air Pontiac engine.
We really dig the time capsule nature of this one and would probably dope slap any potential buyer who was scooping up the car to do a factory resto-job on it. This baby needs to be run week in and week out! Hell, the reserve is under $10K!
So do you know the history of this Pontiac? If so we want to hear it!
Thanks for the tip Ian!
