Epic Truck Rod: A Ford Truck Cab and a Detroit Diesel Make Magic Together

Epic Truck Rod: A Ford Truck Cab and a Detroit Diesel Make Magic Together

The “Pissed off Pete” stands as an amazing custom effort in the field
of “odd rods”. This machine, photographed by BangShifter Eliteman76,
captured the huge truck vibe of the ‘Pete, but does so in a more humble
and homey manner. Where the ‘Pete is a hand sculpted art work, this
thing is an awesome conglomeration of hot rod, big rig, and hand made
parts. The cab looks like an old Ford piece. The bed is custom made and
the engine is a eight cylinder Detroit Diesel. We’re not sure if it is
from the 53,71, or 92 family. There is a turbo on top, which rules all.
According to Eliteman the owner has been hassled over the legality of
the car/truck/rod, but it remains totally legal for street duty.

The grille is from a very old Diamond T truck, and we’re
not sure where the chassis comes from. Dig the crazy suicide spring,
front air brakes, and the hairpins which look like pieces of
scaffolding hanging off the sides of the frame. We’re guessing that the
humongo beam axle in the front of the machine has been narrowed by some
crazed margin. The giant fuel tank in the bed looks like an overgrown
(or perfect size!) beer keg and the bed itself is very long, but it is
in proportion to the rest of the car.
The one thing that should look weird and bad, but
doesn’t is the cab. It appears to be relatively unaltered and one would
think that without being widened or expanded in any way the thing would
look like the wheelhouse from a boat. Instead it looks to be factory
fresh, sitting on the frame.
If you know this car, and the owner, tell them to join up at BangShift and tell us all about it!!!!
