2014 Car Craft Street Machine Nationals Coverage: The Weird, The Wonderful, And The Totally Cool At Du Quoin

2014 Car Craft Street Machine Nationals Coverage: The Weird, The Wonderful, And The Totally Cool At Du Quoin

(Photos by RideTech/Rodney Prouty) – It was another huge happening in the hot rodding world this year when Car Craft brought the Street Machine Nationals show to Du Quoin for the second year in a row after a many year absence. Last year the name of the game was pro street and many of the classic cars from the “pro street era” like Bret Voelkel’s Mustang, Matt and Debbie Hay’s Thunderbird, some of Scott Sullivan’s creations, and other greats from that time period reemerged after years of hiding in the shadows. This year’s show had lots of those cars again but it also drew out a ton of modern street machines done in the typical street/strip style, lots with a pro touring vibe, and some with a…well a flavor all of their own.

RideTech’s Rodney Prouty was on-hand at the show and he blasted a lot of great photos concentrating on the interesting, weird, and very cool stuff he ran across. Trust us when we tell you that this is not a gallery stuffed full of fat-tired 1969 Camaros. Nope, we’re talking Yugos with Chrysler hemis in the back, some interesting pro street cars, and lots of neato pro tour-ers as well.

The guys at Car Craft crushed it again and we hope they continue to for many years to come. This is one of those legacy car shows that should be on every BangShifter’s list of stuff they need to do before they take the big dirt nap. Hit the link below to see why!
