Drag Expo Coverage: Hundreds of Killer Photos from the 7th Annual Bixby Knolls Dragster Expo 2012

Drag Expo Coverage: Hundreds of Killer Photos from the 7th Annual Bixby Knolls Dragster Expo 2012

With Lion’s Drag Strip Cackle cars, tons of show cars, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen, and more, the Bixby Knolls Drag Expo was one of the coolest shows in Southern California this weekend and if you weren’t able to make it, we’ve got all the photos you can handle. This event takes up several city blocks in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, and includes one of the coolest cacklefests you’ll find anywhere. They block of the streets, fire them in the intersections, and let it all hang out. Plus there are some of the neatest Nostalgia Drag Cars we’ve ever seen parked on the streets for you to check out. And the coolest part is that the Bixby Knolls area is the high rent district. Fancy shops, restaurants, and high end neighborhoods are what this area is all about, and for one day each year the Nitro fills the air and packs the streets.

The Bixby Knolls Dragster Expo and Car Show is in it’s 7th year and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. We especially liked the Beach City Chevrolet Corvette Funny Car and the Dog House Fiat Topolino Gasser, but they were only a couple examples of the cool stuff on hand. Check out a few examples of what you missed below and click the link or the photos to check out the complete gallery.

Great show, great people, SUPER CACKLEFEST. It was great to see the WINGED EXPRESS out there. Stuck around after the cacklefest and got to see Mike Boyd when he picked up the car. Mike is the best. My son got to film inside of the cacklefest, as the web-site for the car show used (3) of his videos from YOU-TUBE of last years show. The Flamethrower coupe put on a bitchen show. Great show, thanks to Rae Gablich, looking forward to next year. Chad….Keep up the good work. You guys rock!

Chad, The “Dog House” Anglia you mention is not an Anglia. It is a steel bodied Fiat.

This was my 4th time at Bixby Knolls. This show gets better every year, well worth the drive from San Diego.

I spoke to several people that live in the area surrounding the area of the show and the cacklefest, and no one has complained at all about the noise of the cacklefest. This says a lot about the people of Long Beach, and how they support the events that the city puts on. Great job people of Long Beach!!!! Only one question….where were these people and others when Lions Drag Strip got the sack? A huge part of Drag Racing History used to be at 223rd and Alameda.
