Drag Gallery: The 2011 Nitro Nationals and Old Time Drags – Tulsa Raceway – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Drag Gallery: The 2011 Nitro Nationals and Old Time Drags – Tulsa Raceway – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Recently BangShifter John Gatliff attended the Nitro Nationals and Old Time Drags at Tulsa Raceway Park in Oklahoma. Unlike some nostalgia races that feature pokey street rods on the strip, this one showcased nitro in spades with Fuel Altereds, the Texas Blown Fuel Association boys, and a load of other equipment on the “good stuff” as well.

Luckily for us, John has his camera at the ready and sent us more than 100 great photos from the strip, the pits, and the car show that happened in conjunction with the race. If you dig great muscle cars, blown dragsters and altereds, gassers and more, this one is for you!

Thanks to John for the hookup on the photos!

We had a great time at Tulsa Saturday. Thanks for posting pictures of my Chevy II! It’s the “Clark Speed Special” car. I built the car entirely by myself, except for the lettering. I race it at the HAMB Drags and 3 Oklahoma nostalgia drags every year. It’s an honor to see my car on Bangshift! Thanks, guys!

That is DEFINITELY the twin turbo, + blown Nova on the bottom row of pictures that Rick Dobbertin built and won Street Machine of the Year many times over in the mid 80’s. Good to see it out cruising again.

Thanks for getting a picture of my “SPOOKY” fairlane, I’m just getting started with the OUTLAW Gassers and loving it.

Thanks for the photo of my car, I run with the CSGA (Central State Gasser Association), this car has a lot of history, thats why I have not painted it or changed it except for the hood scoop. Blower would not fit with it 🙂 I hope to find out as much as I can about it. Thanks again

    Rick
