The 2011 running of the “Shakedown at E-Town” continued in a tradition that is heading for a tenth year in 2012. There were lots of great cars, lots of big time runs and some of the tightest doorslammer drag racing competition known to mankind. The Shakedown now serves as an unofficial kick off for a troika of bitchin’ ‘slammer races. There’s the Shakedown, the “No Mercy” Radial Revolution event in Georgia, and the Street Car Super Nationals, held in Las Vegas.
Our man Joe Grippo was on the scene to blast 150 photos from the Shakedown this year and he did a great job checking up on the small tire cars, big meated Pro Mods, and even some of the more bad assed import iron that was at Englishtown to do battle. Dig the pit photos of the wild turbocharged rotary engine machines!
The evolution in doorslammer performance over the years has really been highlighted at events like the Shakedown. The “go big or go home” attitude that comes along with them tend to drive racers to push that much harder. Not to mention that the fields at these events are the best of the best. You earn every round win!
This year’s winners were:
Sam Gottier – Heavy Street
Rich Bruder – x275
Steve Jackson – Outlaw Drag Radial
Larry Woods – Outlaw 10.5
Mike Castellana – Pro Nitrous
Jose Gonzalez – Blown Pro Mod
Next year’s event will be held on October 12-14, 2012!
